Spagnola’s Power Hour; Lissie at Mr. Smalls (CPs Wed., 11/27/13)

1) Self-proclaimed “drinking composer with a music problem” Ali Spagnola joins us for Ali Spagnola’s Power Hour Concert and Drinking Game at Club Café. If you don’t remember the concept of Power Hour (and if you’ve made it through one, it’s probably a vague memory), you take a drink every minute for an hour. Ali performs 60 one-minute songs, and when the song changes, the audience drinks. Her insanely fun party tunes include hilarious lyrics (including 91 different ways to say “drunk”) that will remind you of your college days (or what you remember of them). Partying with her are Verity’s Lie and DJ Keith Myers. Put a cab company number in your phone—you’ll need it for this one. 9 p.m. 56-58 S. 12th St., South Side.

2) For an up-and-coming folk rocker who’s just getting started, Lissie brings the fire to Mr. Smalls Funhouse to show us that blondes do it better. Making it to VH1’s “You Oughta Know” artist status, Lissie has a haunting, Stevie Nicks-esque voice, as demonstrated in her twist of “Go Your Own Way.” Her guitar paired with her blonde locks emit the essence of an early Jewel with a contemporary edge and passion that you won’t want to miss. Her openers include Purple Apple and The Artless. 8 p.m. 400 Lincoln Ave., Millvale.

3) Get your dancing shoes ready, because you won’t be able to help yourself when No Bad Juju takes the stage at Silks at the Meadows Casino and Racetrack. The eight-piece band includes two vocalists as well as guitar, bass, drums, keys, trombone, trumpet, and saxophone for a modern-day twist on the big band. Combining R&B, rock, and contemporary favorites, the band gives an energetic performance that will rid you of any of your bad juju. 8 p.m. 210 Racetrack Rd., Washington.

4) You don’t need to wait for St. Patrick’s Day to get a Celtic fix—The Mahones are here tonight! The Irish-born Celtic punk band is making a stop at the Altar Bar for a night of high-paced tunes. Their modern take on Celtic brings vigor and verve with rockin’ riffs and intense vocals. Is it possible to dislike a band that features an accordion? I think not. Special guests include Bastard Bearded Irishmen, The Beagle Brothers, and The Even Three. 8:30 p.m. 1620 Penn Ave., Strip District.

5) The boys of winter, our own Pittsburgh Penguins, take on the Toronto Maple Leafs at the Consol Energy Center. 7:30 p.m. 1001 Fifth Ave., Uptown.
