Cool Picks Wednesday August 29, 2012

1)The Turtles, Flo and Eddie, bring their 1960’s pop hits to the Carnegie Library Music Hall of Homestead as part of the “Happy Together Tour.” The Turtles were known for hits: It Ain’t Me Babe, Happy Together.  Also on the bill are the Monkees Micky Dolenz; Gary Puckett and the Union Gap, The Grass Roots and the Buckinghams. This is an all-star lineup of bands! It’s especially great to see The Grass Roots on the bill, with some fantastic songs including: Sooner Or Later; Let’s Live For Today; Midnight Confessions,  I’d Wait a Million Years. 7:30 p.m. Munhall.

2) Rock group Train pulls into the Stage AE station. Stoking the firebox are openers Mat Kearney and Andy Grammer. Doors open 7 p.m., North Shore.

3) Slim Cessna’s Auto Club is playing the New Hazlett Theater  with special guests, The Sterling Sisters. Slim Cessna’s Auto Club is from Denver and play a rich blend of American music. 8 p.m., North Side.

4) The Pirates take on the St. Louis Cardinals in a 7:05 p.m. game at PNC Park, North Shore.

5) Citiparks Dollar Bank Cinema in the Park screens The Green Lantern (PG-13) at dusk on Flagstaff Hill, preceded at 7 p.m. by a yet to be announced band. Schenley Park. Free.
