Country Music Star Chris Young Performs at Regatta; Pittsburgh Symphony at Hartwood (Sun., 7/5/15)

1) America’s largest inland regatta, the 2015 EQT Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta, continues today along the banks of and on the Allegheny River near Point State Park. Today’s attractions include the F-1 Powerboat Races, jet ski stunts, Anything That Floats Race, Frisbee Dogs, AAA Beach, sand sculptures, the Wheel of Lights, concessions and vendors, fireworks, food, bands, Cool Off Kid’s Zone and more. Grammy nominated Country music performer Chris Young headlines the evening with an 8 p.m. show. Johnny Angel and the Halos are another highlighted musical performer (2:30 p.m.) Check site for other performers. Hours are noon to 10 p.m. Free. Ends today. Point State Park, Downtown.  Boating events have been canceled due to unsafe river conditions.

2) The world-renowned Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra will dazzle the crowd tonight with an outdoor show at Hartwood Acres as part of the Allegheny County Summer Concert Series. This free concert will include music by Copland, Bernstein, and Tchaikovsky with Fawsi Haimor conducting the orchestra.  Bring a picnic blanket and enjoy a night of classical music under the stars. 8 p.m. 200 Hartwood Acres, Hampton and Indiana townships.

3) Our beloved Buccos take the diamond again today against the Cleveland Indians. It’s also Kids Day, with a Family Fun Zone outside the ball yard beforehand, and all fans 14 and younger have a chance to run the bases after the game. All kids 14 and under receive a Kids Pirates Inflatable Chair First pitch is at 1:35 p.m. This is your last Cleveland vs. Pittsburgh action until the Browns and Steelers play in the fall.
