Jerry Douglas and Nameless in August in Concert at Hartwood Acres (CPs Sun., 8/3/14)

1) Although there’s beautiful green grass at Hartwood Acres, there will also be some delightful bluegrass tonight. Jerry Douglas with Nameless in August will be playing one of the true forms of American music as part of the Allegheny County Summer Concerts Series. Douglas has played his Dobro and lap steel guitars as a side man for some of the top names in the music industry. He has over a dozen solo albums to his credit and has produced recordings for Alison Krauss and the Del McCoury Band. 7:30 p.m. 200 Hartwood Acres, Hampton and Indiana Townships.

2) The City of Pittsburgh’s Bach, Beethoven and Brunch Classical Music Series offers a free concert today by Carnegie Brass, a chamber group that enjoys playing contemporary pieces, many of which are specifically written for them. This concert series runs every Sunday through Aug. 10 in Mellon Park from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Pack your own brunch basket or buy food at the park. Fifth and Shady Aves., Point Breeze/Squirrel Hill.

3) Maureen Budway, one of Pittsburgh’s best jazz vocalists, plays the Citiparks’ Reservoir of Jazz concert this evening at the Highland Park Reservoir. 5-7 p.m., Highland Ave. and Reservoir Dr., Highland Park.
