The Legendary Bob Dylan and Allderdice Alum Wiz Khalifa in Pittsburgh Concerts Tonight (CPs Thurs., 11/20/14)

1) Bob Dylan and his Band’s Never Ending Tour makes its Western Pennsylvania stop tonight. “Never Ending” is right. Singer-songwriter Dylan, who has released 35 studio albums over his 50-year career, shows no sign of stopping. Both old and new material continues to draw critical praise, and “Like a Rolling Stone” was voted the greatest song of all time by Rolling Stone. Last year, Pittsburghers had to drive to California, Pa., to see Dylan and his band, but this year, they need only take the T to Heinz Hall. The appearance comes just two weeks after the release (finally!) of The Complete Basement Tapes. Considered the Holy Grail of bootlegs, this six-CD collection of recordings chronicles Dylan’s 1967-68 sessions with The Band. Patrons will have to wait until showtime to hear whether Dylan and his versatile backing band will play any live cuts from this collection. There is also no way of knowing what version of Bob Dylan will appear, but even if his live shows are sometimes hit or miss, there’s always the bragging rights of having gotten to see Dylan live. 8 p.m. 600 Penn Ave., Cultural District.

2) Wiz Khalifa loves Pittsburgh, and Pittsburgh loves Wiz Khalifa, which is why he’ll be performing three shows at Mr. Smalls. The Taylor Allderdice alum is also one of the hardest working people in entertainment. His rap music has been nominated for five Grammys, including the ubiquitous “Black and Yellow.” In between frequent solo releases, Khalifa has collaborated with artists as diverse as Snoop Dogg and Maroon 5. His Taylor Gang Entertainment label, headquartered in the Steel City, recently partnered with Neff, an active lifestyle brand, to produce 26 pieces of apparel, featuring hats and T-shirts. Blacc Hollywood, his fifth studio album, went to number one on Billboard’s Top 200 album chart this year. The newest single, “Stayin’ Out All Night,” includes an interactive music video, where viewers can choose how Khalifa and actress Tia Carrere (Wayne’s World) “stay out all night.” Special guest Uzi opens. 8:30 p.m. 400 Lincoln Ave., Millvale. Khalifa will also be in concert tomorrow and Saturday night. All shows are Sold Out; check ticket reselling sites for any availability.

3) Mario’s East Side hosts Team Trivia Night every Thursday. Win, place, or show and your team will earn Mario’s gift certificates. Play against the Miller Lite Girls, and you could even win Miller Lite trinkets and giveaways! 8 p.m. 5442 Walnut St., Shadyside.
