We Are the In Crowd Rocks Altar Bar; Attack Theatre Presents “Histoire du Soldat” (CPs. Wed., 2/26/2014)

1) Come hang with the kids you always wanted to be friends with in high school when We Are the In Crowd plays Altar Bar. The band’s fusion of punk and pop presents audiences with the dilemma of whether to mosh or to dance, but both are okay with the In Crowd. A unique coupling of male and female vocals along with catchy beats and rockin’ riffs, We Are the In Crowd sounds like the lovechild of Paramore and The All-American Rejects. Songs like “The Best Thing (That Never Happened)…” and “Both Sides of the Story” feature the female angst we haven’t heard since Shirley Manson (of Garbage), and it’s delivered in a surprisingly upbeat rhythm that will entertain fans of pop, punk, and rock alike. Special guests include William Beckett, Set It Off, Candy Hearts, and State Champs. 7 p.m. 1620 Penn Ave., Strip District.

2) Enjoy great food, drink some craft beer, and get ready to sing your heart out at the Smiling Moose with their 4-Course Tröegs Beer Dinner and Rock Star Karaoke. The $50 prix fixe meal includes a pairing of Tröegs beer with every course. A dinner to tantalize your taste buds will be prepared by Moose Chef Locke and “The Vagabond Chef” Matt Welsch. Tickets and seating are limited, so reserve your space soon. After dinner and some liquid courage, sing some of your favorite songs during their weekly karaoke night. Enjoy drink specials like $3 Captain Morgans and 1/2 off Tröegs at the bar. Grab some friends and sing a crowd pleaser! Dinner at 6:30 p.m.; karaoke, 10 p.m. – close. 1306 E. Carson St., South Side.

3) Exceptional talent takes the stage with Attack Theatre’s performance of Histoire du Soldat at the Pittsburgh Opera. Featuring the music of Stravinsky, this eclectic celebration of dance features members of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Chatham Baroque dancers, and Carnegie Mellon School of Music students. Interpreting a story of temptation and greed, Attack Theatre dancers evoke a range of emotions by pushing the boundaries of conventional dance. A treat for your eyes and ears, Histoire du Soldat is here through March 1, so make a reservation while you can! 7:30 p.m. 2425 Liberty Ave., Strip District.

4) Cappy’s Café in Shadyside is holding its Team Trivia contest tonight with Trivia Master John. 9 – 11 p.m. Trivia night Yuengling draft special, $3 for a 20 oz. brew.  5431 Walnut St.
