Comedian Frank Caliendo Plays Carnegie Music Hall; Murder for Girls at Gooski’s (Sat., 4/15/17)

1) Donald Trump, George Bush, John Madden, Charles Barkley, Jay Leno, and William Shatner will be appearing (or at least good impressions of them will be) at Carnegie Music Hall in Oakland tonight when talented comic Frank Caliendo takes the stage. Caliendo honed his skills first as a cast member of Fox’s “MADtv,” then moved on to “FOX NFL Sunday” and TBS’s “Frank TV.” He even performed a George Bush impression in front of then President Bush at the 2006 White House Correspondents Dinner. 8 p.m.  4400 Forbes Ave., Oakland.

2) It’s Murder for Girls at Gooski’s in Polish Hill tonight. This punky, crunchy band is built upon the strong bass lines of bass guitarist Jonathan Bagamery, intense rhythmic drumming of Michele Dunlap, and dual guitar sound of Tammy Wallace and Stephanie Wallace and their harmonic, fast-paced vocals. Murder for Girls is active on the local scene and has drawn good crowds to their appearances at the Deutschtown Music Festival, RANT, and Ladyfest. Their latest release is All the Wishes. Look for the band to announce new dates soon. Also on the bill is Dead River and Crooked Cobras. 9 p.m. 3117 Brereton St.

3) The Pitt Blue-Gold Game is occurring today at Heinz Field. The team will be divided into two squads. Honorary coaches for this match up are former Pitt players Tyler Boyd (Cincinnati Bengals) and Jabal Sheard (New England Patriots). The winning side eats steak and lobster for dinner, the loser eats franks and beans. Activities include a tailgating party, on-field photos, autograph sessions with former Panthers, music from the Pitt band, Pitt cheerleaders, and fun activities for the little ones. Gates open at 11:30 p.m., kickoff at 1 p.m. Free. 100 Art Rooney Ave., North Shore.

4) Native Zambian, and current Pittsburgh resident, Matthew Tembo will perform at the First Unitarian Church of Pittsburgh’s Song Space in a benefit for music education in Zambian schools. Tembo is an award-winning musician who travels the world performing his special blend of Afro-fusion/reggae music. Dadi Mwana, his latest release, features lively songs with lyrics in several different languages. He skillfully performs with handmade instruments including the silimba (local marimba), kalumbu (one stringed instrument), and kalimba (thumb piano). Sounds like a nice opportunity to help out a worthy cause and hear some great music. 7:30 p.m. 605 Morewood Ave., Shadyside.
