Grit & Grace Spotlights America Dim Sum; David Throckmorton/Chris Parker Duo Plays Thunderbird (CPs Tues., 3/3/15)

1) Grit & Grace is all about opposites, hence their name and their American-Asian fusion cuisine. Newly opened last year, the restaurant has become a downtown favorite. They are especially known for their American dim sum; the dim sum even has its own menu. The way it works is customers can choose how much (or little) they want of any particular item off of the dim sum cart. Popular items include the pork belly bites and the eggplant. The lunch and dinner menus include soups, salads, noodles and other entrées. Patrons have also praised Grit & Grace’s dark wood decor and communal bar. 535 Liberty Ave., Downtown.

2) Thunderbird Cafe’s Space Exchange series, which explores progressive jazz in relation to other musical genres, continues tonight with the David Throckmorton/Chris Parker. Guitarist Chris Parker is joined by drummer David Throckmorton for sets of improvised duo music. 9 p.m. No cover. 4023 Butler St., Lawrenceville.

3) Focus Will Smith plays a seasoned con artist who ends up working a scam against a former protégé and love interest played by Margot Robbie. Smith’s career of late has been a series of ups and downs but maybe this romantic comedy/drama could turn that around. Director/writers Glenn Ficarra and John Requa have such an offbeat resume (I Love You Phillip Morris, Bad Santa, and Crazy Stupid Love) that they just might be what Smith needs. Check Fandango for screens and times.
