1) The name of Lisa Lampanelli’s website, insultcomic.com, should give you an idea of what kind of comedy she performs. She began to perform stand-up in the early ’90s in New York City and perfected those insults at numerous roasts, including roasts of Chevy Chase, Flavor Flav, and Donald Trump. The Donald got the last laugh, firing her during the 12th season of “The Apprentice.” Before she became a comedian, she worked as a journalist. She was a copy editor at Popular Mechanics, an assistant at Rolling Stone, and a fact-checker at Spy. She returned to the printed word in 2009 with her memoir, Chocolate, Please: My Adventures in Food, Fat, and Freaks. She’s starred in a number of comedy specials, and her 2015 comedy album, “Back to the Drawing Board,” received a Grammy nomination. She brings her insults to The Palace Theatre. 8 p.m. 21 W. Otterman St., Greensburg. (CM)

2) “Give me some peanuts and Cracker Jack” our Pirates take on the Atlanta Braves in the home opener today. This game usually sells out so get your tickets early. If it does sell out check the internet re-seller sites and even your friendly unofficial salesperson outside PNC Park. It’s a 1:05 p.m. game so don’t forget your sunscreen in case the sun pops out from behind the clouds for an extended period of time. Oh, by the way, it’s also magnetic schedule premium day. 115 Federal St., North Shore.

4) When I was a kid, my grandmother took me to see the Shrine Circus. It was my first opportunity to see so many wonders up close.  The Shrine Circus is a Pittsburgh Shriners’ fundraiser to support the 22 Shriner Hospitals for Children across North America. This is a great opportunity for family fun and to help out a great charity. 7 p.m. Runs through Sunday. PPG Paints Arena, 1001 Fifth Ave., Uptown.
