Pittsburgh Symphony and Opera Perform Together at Three Rivers Arts Festival (Mon., 6/8/15)

1) The Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival continues today. The festival features 10 days of free art and music shows! There’s also theater productions and hands-on arts activities for kids. Don’t forget the festival food including gyros, Italian sausage sandwiches, grilled chicken kebabs, funnel cakes and plenty of deep-fried food favorites. Tonight’s featured musical act at the Dollar Bank Stage is the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra with Pittsburgh Opera Resident Artists. Wow. What a great combination and at a great outdoor venue! 7:30 p.m. Festival opens at noon daily and runs through June 14. Point State Park and Gateway Center, Downtown.

2) Progression – Once upon a time you couldn’t give away space in Lawrenceville … now it’s impossible to walk down Butler Street without bumping into a microbrewery. Progression—the story of three urbanite couples working their way through a progressive dinner in Larryville—examines what happens when hipsters move into your neighborhood. It’s written and directed by locals Gab Cody and Sam Turich. 8:15 p.m. (also 5:30 p.m., June 13) Harris Theater, 809 Liberty Ave., Cultural District.

3) Savoy Restaurant’s Savoy Jazz Mondays continues tonight with the Roger Humphries Trio featuring vocalist Sandy Dowe. 6 – 10 p.m. No cover. 2623 Penn Ave., Strip District.
