Rusted Root and Wailers Jam at Stage AE (CPs Thurs., 5/22/14)

1) After enduring that long, dark, and frigid winter, this spring concert is exactly what’s necessary to lift the weight from Pittsburgh’s weary shoulders. Leave your troubles at the door as you check out local five-piece jam band Rusted Root as they join the renowned Wailers (of Bob Marley fame) on Stage AE’s outdoor stage. Whether it’s Rusted Root’s upbeat acoustics or the Wailers’ island sound of reggae, the bottom line is this: you can take a seat and let the music wash over you, or you can get on your feet and dance. With a modicum of soul left under that winter-weary shell of yours, I assure you—you’ll want to, and you won’t be alone in doing so. Special guest is Adam Ezra. Doors open at 6 p.m., rain or shine. 400 North Shore Dr., North Shore.

2) The boys are back in town: Rob and Greg of The Clarks play a set at Jergel’s Rhythm Grille sans drummer Dave Minarik and vocalist Scott Blasey. They’ll be joined by Skip and Jeff of Good Brother Earl. If you live in Pittsburgh and the year is sometime between 1995 and, say, 2020 and your chosen dwelling isn’t a watertight capsule at the bottom of the Allegheny River, then The Clarks probably don’t need an introduction. An active part of the Pittsburgh music scene since back before it was cool (i.e. 1986), distinguished IUP alumni The Clarks boast a deep discography powered by an uplifting attitude. Though primarily a regional act, they have appeared on national programs like “The Late Show with David Letterman” and ESPN’s “Cold Pizza”—they’re more than just big fish in a little pond. Doors open at 7 p.m. 285 Northgate Dr., Warrendale.

3) Celebrate the late, great Johnny Cash in Ring of Fire with the Pittsburgh CLO Cabaret, presented by the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust. Through narrative and song, relive the legacy of the legendary “Man in Black.” Whether you’re a country music fan or not, you can’t help but appreciate Cash’s voluminous and diverse catalog, which draws in elements from a broad selection of musical genres. Over the course of two hours, Ring of Fire pays tribute to more than 30 of Cash’s hits. 7:30 p.m. Through Aug. 17. Benedum Center, 237 7th St., Cultural District.

4) The Washington Nationals take a swing at the Pirates. Let’s hope the Bucs swing back. 7:05 p.m. 115 Federal St., North Shore.
