1) The hidden musical gem of the Three Rivers Arts Festival might be L.P. a crystalline-voiced, singer-songwriter from L.A.  Her sound features a power pop/rock  band with great guitars, drums and vocals.  One of her songs is interestingly titled, “Suburban Sprawl & Alcohol.” L.P. has written and co-written songs for Pittsburgh native Christina Aguilera, Rihanna and the Backstreet Boys.  Show starts at 8:10 pm. Cool Picks – Wednesday June 6, 2012

1) Take a drive out to the country (unless you already live in the country) for the  Saint Vincent College Summer Theatre production of Forever Plaid.  Play starts at 8:10 pm.

2) View the winners of the Three Rivers Arts Festival juried art competition. The winners exhibit is on display at the  Trust Arts Educational Center on Liberty Avenue Downtown.

Cool Picks – Tuesday June 5, 2012

 It’s a Tuesday and one of the most happening places in town continues to be Point State Park and The Three Rivers Arts Festival. One especially great aspect of the festival is the waste receptacles. Cool Picks Monday June 4, 2012

1) With the possibility of rain today, it’s a great time to catch the new Marvel Avengers flick. It’s the #1 box office opening movie of all time according to the Marvel site. (At least until Pittsburgh–filmed, The Dark Knight Rises debuts on July 20th).

Cool Picks Sunday June 3, 2012

1) Some things just go together beautifully – like a good hot dog with Heinz ketchup. A lovely combination is happening in Pittsburgh today, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra is performing at the Three Rivers Arts Festival. The free concert starts in Point State Park at 6:30 pm.
