Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre at the Chautauqua Institution

The Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre wrapped up their summer with a debut performance at the venerable Chautauqua Institution amphitheater in southwestern New York. Energized by the fresh lake air, the dancers charmed the captivated crowd with diverse ballets including Drink to Me Only With Thine Eyes by Mark Morris, and Jardin Aux Lilas (Lilac garden) by Antony Tudor. The evening ended with Dwight Rhoden’s kinetic Step Touch and a standing ovation from a sated audience.

Pittsburgh’s Mid-Summer Party at The Point

Thousands converged on Point State Park last week despite the humidity for the annual summer extravaganza known as the 2013 EQT Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta. Now combined with the Fourth of July holiday, the nations largest inland regatta is in its 36th year and continues to attract Pittsburghers from all walks of life.

Always eclectic, this year did not disappoint with high flying dogs, sugar laden funnel cakes and two nights of brilliant pyrotechnics.
