One Acts Festival at Actors and Artists of Fayette County; Mr Smalls Hosts Vit DeBacco Album Release Party (Sat., 1/12/19)

1) ONE ACTS FESTIVAL (three new short plays). Jan. 11-13, presented by Actors and Artists of Fayette County. The Scottdale-based Actors and Artists, prominent in developing live theater in a more rural part of the Pittsburgh region, host their second annual One Acts Festival. Featured plays are “Harper Goes Rollerskating” by Jared Pascoe, “Love Locks on Clemente” by Evan W. Saunders, and “Reframing Frances” by Andy Wertner. Geyer Performing Arts Center, 111 Pittsburgh St., Scottdale.

2) Slippery Rock singer/songwriter Vit DeBacco counts as his influences: Counting Crows/Adam Duritz, Green Day, Wallflowers/Jakob Dylan, and Bob Dylan. He has been rising on the local scene and now has an album release party for his latest effort, Writer’s Tears. There’s an Irish Whiskey of the same name. We are not sure if that inspired the name of DeBacco’s album, but we are reasonably certain that the new music will have a smooth flow to it with no harsh notes, especially when played from oak cask speakers. Join the party at Mr. Smalls Funhouse. Opening are Torrey Shineman, Jess Klein, and Henry Bachorski. 8 p.m. 400 Lincoln Ave., Millvale.
