13th Annual Film Pittsburgh ReelAbilities Film Festival Kicks Off (Thurs., 9/4/25)

The region’s only film festival that demonstrates the creativity and lives of those living with disabilities, ReelAbilities Pittsburgh is now in it’s 13th year. The Festival will run September 4-11 at the Pittsburgh Playhouse and online. This year’s program will include five feature films and 12 short films screening in person and virtually. Opening night will also feature the Pittsburgh premiere of Color Book. Film Pittsburgh said that Color Book “will be followed by a Q&A with members of the filmmaking team. This artistically crafted black-and-white directorial debut earned director David Fortune the prestigious Directors to Watch Award at the 2025 Palm Springs International Film Festival. Color Book had its World Premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival and won the Critics’ Prize at the Deauville American Film Festival. Color Book’s Pittsburgh premiere is co-sponsored by Inglis.” “ReelAbilities is a celebration of all people in the disability community and the power of film to foster empathy and understanding,” says Shanna Carrick, Film Pittsburgh’s newly appointed Executive Director. “I’m excited for what’s ahead and proud to begin this new chapter by spotlighting stories that reflect the full spectrum of our shared human experience.” See the festival’s website for films and more information. 7 p.m. Point Park University’s Pittsburgh Playhouse. 350 Forbes Ave., Downtown.
