Chamber Music Pittsburgh Hosts Orion String Quartet; ‘We Are Twisted F***king Sister!’ Screening at the Hollywood (Mon., 2/22/16)

1) Chamber Music Pittsburgh’s next concert happens tonight and features the noted Orion String Quartet. They have been praised for their fresh perspective on classical music and interspersing classic and newer works in their concert programs. They will be playing a program of three pieces, one each composed by Beethoven, Kirchner, and Brahms. Daniel Phillips and Todd Phillips (violins), are brothers and Pittsburgh natives. Joining them are Marcy Rosen (cello) and Catherine Cho (viola). Hear great music in a beautiful setting. Carnegie Music Hall in Oakland. 7:30 p.m., 4400 Forbes Ave.

2) We Are Twisted F***king Sister!  Did you ever wonder how the glam rock band Twisted Sister got their start? Me neither. But this rockumentary is going to tell you just about everything you need to know. In the 70’s and early 80’s, Twisted Sister was the most famous bar band playing in clubs around New York City and New Jersey. How they made the leap to nationally known group is what this 2014 film, directed by Andrew Horn, is all about. 7:30 p.m. Last day. Hollywood Theater, 1449 Potomac Ave., Dormont.

3) The Balcony Big Band,  with a special guest, is hitting only high notes in a Monday night performance at Jergel’s Rhythm Grille. The 18 member group makes a big, beautiful sound. Get in some Monday relaxation with good music. 7 p.m. No cover. 285 Northgate Dr., Warrendale.
