Chef Lidia Bastianich Hosts Spring Garden Dinner at Lidia’s; Pirates vs. The Rockies (Mon., 6/12/17)

1) Emmy Award-winning TV chef, author, and restauranteur Lidia Bastianich shined a bight food and dining spotlight on Pittsburgh when she opened a Lidia’s restaurant here in 2001. The comfortable, contemporary designed restaurant has survived and thrived by serving fresh, seasonal, time-honored Italian classics with Bastinaich’s distinctive touch. Menu highlights include Lidia’s Pasta Tasting Trio, lemon chicken, grilled lamb chops with rosemary, and osso bucca.

Lidia’s is also welcoming a new executive chef with the arrival of Daniel Walker. He worked at several renowned restaurants and luxury hotels before becoming sous chef at Lidia’s flagship restaurant in New York City. Felidia’s. Walker then worked in the same position in his hometown at Lidia’s Kansas City. Growing up there he credits his grandmother for sparking his interest in food and cooking. He looks forward to applying his culinary knowledge, under Bastianich’s guidance, to the menu at Lidia’s Pittsburgh.

Bastianich and Walker are teaming up for a Spring Garden Dinner tonight at Lidia’s Pittsburgh. The event will mark their first collaboration at this location and features a four-course prix fixe menu of Lidia’s noted Italian fare with seasonal influences. The four courses include several offerings from which to choose on the antipasti, pasta, secondi, and dolci sections of the special menu. Several of the highlights include: crostini with asparagus, scallion, and egg; risotto with crab, squash blossoms, and zucchini; lamb chops in pistachio crust with pea puree; and limoncello tiramisu. Sounds delizioso! Lidia will be available throughout the dinner to sign autographs and books, and take photos with guests. Space is limited, call (412) 552-0150.
