BACK TO THE FUTURE: The Musical, book by Bob Gale and music and lyrics by Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard. Pittsburgh CLO. July 1 – 6.

Winner of the 2022 Olivier Award for Best Musical, Back To The Future flies onto the Benedum Stage with Marty McFly, Doc Brown, and the townsfolk of Hill Valley just before the clock atop City Hall is damaged in a powerful lightning storm in 1955. Of course, the story begins in 1985, so it’s a rare occurrence, indeed, when Marty meets his future parents (before they dated,) drives an antique Delorean (before it was ever invented,) and steers the world away from the harmful effects of plutonium, bullies and not following your dreams. With classic rock ballads (“Earth Angel”, “Johnny B. Goode”) and the timeless Huey Lewis anthem, “The Power of Love,” Back To The Future: The Musical is a fast-paced romp (88 m.p.h. exactly, some would say) for which you need to set your clock for July 1-6 in the year 2025. The Pittsburgh CLO brings the national tour to Benedum Center. 7:30 p.m. 237 7th St., Cultural District. (C.P.O.)
