Cool Picks Thursday October 18, 2012

Cool Picks brings you the best in Pittsburgh entertainment every day!

1) It’s opening night for The Producers, the latest production of Point Park University’s Playhouse. Fraudulent producers attempt to bilk investors out of their money by producing a show that’s sure to fail, only it doesn’t. Comedian Mel Brooks co-wrote the story and wrote the music and lyrics. “The Producers” original Broadway play won a Tony Award in each category in which it was nominated. A notable achievement.  8 p.m. Runs through October 28th. 222 Craft Ave., Oakland.

2) Also opening in Oakland tonight is  Saltimbanco, the latest amazing production in the creative performance pipeline of Cirque du Soleil, opens tonight at the Petersen Events Center. 7:30 p.m. Runs through Sunday. 3719 Terrace St., University of Pittsburgh Oakland Campus.

3) Tres Lads perform tonight at Jergel’s Rhythm Grille. Tres Lads play powerful acoustic sets of popular songs. 8 p.m. 103 Slade Lane, Warrendale.

4) Andys Wine Bar features a jazz performance tonight by Maggie Johnson. 7:30 – 10:30 p.m. No cover. 510 Market  Street, Downtown.
