Soundgarden Plays Stage AE (CP’s Sun. 5/12/13)

1) The Seattle bands are hitting the ‘Burgh hard lately. Earlier this week it was Alice in Chains and now Soundgarden is bringing its power rock sound to our fair city. They’re best known for the big hit “Black Hole Sun” and “By Crooked Steps.” Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Stage AE, 400 North Shore Drive, North Shore.

2) James McCartney, accomplished singer/songwriter and musician, brings his songs to Pittsburgh. McCartney says that his work has been influenced by The Beatles, Nirvana, PJ Harvey, Radiohead and the Cure. Oh, by the way James father is Sir Paul McCartney formerly of The Beatles.  Special guest is Rachel Ann Weiss.8 p.m. Club Cafe. 56-58 S. 12th St., South Side.

3) Altar Bar features rockers Relient K, who’ve had several gold records to their credit and numerous late-night talk show appearances. Also on the bill are Hellogoodbye, William Beckett, and Mike Mains & The Branches. 7 p.m. 1620 Penn Ave., Strip District.

4) Get into the “swing of it” with the Jazz Conspiracy Big Band at Jergel’s Rhythm Grille. Free swing dance lessons at 6:30 p.m., band starts at 7 p.m. 103 Slade Ln., Warrendale.
