Green Pepper Features Korean and Pan Asian Fare (Thurs., 10/16/24)
Don’t let the name fool you. Green Pepper serves much more than a single vegetable. In fact, this Korean restaurant has a very full menu. Its website describes “garl bee” (marinated beef ribs) as the “signature fine dining item in Korean cuisine,” and Green Pepper’s garl bee is no exception. The “sarm gyeob sarl,” which is one of their specialties is flame-grilled and then griddle-cooked light-salted pork belly BBQ. The BBQ-grilled Korean bacon comes with lettuce to hand roll it and also rice. Spicy chicken, several kimchi dishes, and mackerel fish grill, ramen and glass noodle dishes, are other interesting options. Most entrees hover around $19 with larger items, like the sarm gyeob sarl, costing more. BYOB or purchase alcohol, from Singha and San Miguel beers to cold soju. Screens playing KPop music videos offer something original in the way of background entertainment. Plus, two elegant, spacious rooms. 2020 Murray Ave., Squirrel Hill. (C.M.)
