Indy-Pop Siblings Bailen in Concert at Thunderbird Cafe and Music Hall (Sun., 5/14/23)

Siblings Daniel, David, and Julia compose the indie pop group Bailen. Raised by classical musician parents, the New York City-based familial/musical unit is out now with their sophomore album, Tired Hearts. The Fantasy Records release sees the group deliberating about an uncertain future where ethics and morality are constantly shifting. The songs speak to the optimism of the heart and the sober reality of the head. Album tracks demonstrate the band’s “avant-garde pop evolution, sharing tales of strained relationships, through resolution and resolve, drawing on their individual challenges with anxiety, depression and breast cancer survival, all told through the prism of their collective family consciousness, oftentimes finding the humour in the darkest of times.” Their synth-driven sound combines with rich vocal harmonies to create bouncy, pleasing pop-rock songs. Catch them at Thunderbird Cafe and Music Hall. Special guest is Rett Madison. 8 p.m. 4053 Butler St., Lawrenceville.
