Jon Batiste in Concert at Heinz Hall (Tues., 10/28/25)
Not only is Jon Batiste one of the most joyful musicians around, he is also one of the most talented. Batiste grew up in a famous musical family in Kenner, Louisiana, a suburb of New Orleans. A musical prodigy, he released his first album at the age of 17 before earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees in jazz studies at Julliard. He recorded and toured after that, gaining insights from some of the top performers. There’s also acting roles on his resume. He appeared as himself in several seasons of the the HBO television series “Treme” and as T.K. Hazelton in director Spike Lee’s film Red Hook Summer. Batiste founded the group Stay Human which then became the house band for “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” until 2022. At the Grammy Awards in 2022, Batiste was nominated for 11 awards, winning five including Album of the Year for We Are. He has recorded nine studio albums, the latest of which is Big Money, released this August. Experience Batiste’s musical positivity in person at Heinz Hall. 8 p.m. 600 Penn Ave., Cultural District.
