Mac Miller Opens His Tour in Pittsburgh at Stage AE; Steelers vs. Bengals (Sun., 9/18/16)

1) Rapper and hometown talent Mac Miller returns to the ‘Burgh for a concert at Stage AE tonight. Miller, a Taylor Allderdice graduate, has even created songs with local ties. “Party on Fifth Avenue” is from the album Blue Slide Park (which referto Upper Frick Park), and “Frick Park Market” is a riff on that Point Breeze deli. Miller sometimes teams up for concerts with another Pittsburgh rapper, Wiz Khalifa, but this show he’s flying his own banner, Miller’s latest tour opens here just two days after his new album The Devine Feminine drops  In 2011 Miller was admired by, and then feuded with, current Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump after Miller wrote a song titled “Donald Trump” comparing his own success to that of Trump. Openers are PouyaHardo, Jimmy Wapo Choo Jackson, The Come Up, and CLOCKWORKDJ. Doors open at 7 p.m. 400 North Shore Dr., North Shore.

2) The Steelers, who are coming off a big win against the Washington Redskins this past Monday night line up this week against AFC North Division rivals the Cincinnati Bengals in a rematch of last years playoff game. Hopefully the Steelers can produce the same result in this year’s first meeting. Go Steelers! 1 p.m. 100 Art Rooney Ave., North Shore.

3) A big event in Pittsburgh’s early history was British General Braddock’s defeat on the banks of the Monongahela  by the French and Indian forces south of Pittsburgh. If he were still alive today he would be pleased to learn there is a restaurant named after him that is well-known for creatively cooking fresh and local ingredients into some fine dishes. Braddock would probably be a Steelers’ fan having spent time in the area. He would also appreciate that Braddock’s Brasserie is celebrating the black and gold with their Kegs & Eggs Tailgate every Sunday before home Steeler games. Abundant breakfast options, a Bloody Mary bar, and local beer offerings have all been procured for the event. So if you see someone at the tailgate on Sunday with a red coat and black and gold it could be Braddock’s ghost out for a good time. The tailgate will be held in the front street-side bar area of the restaurant. 9 a.m. In the Renaissance Pittsburgh Hotel, 107 6th St, Downtown.
