1) The Marshall Tucker Band began performing in Spartanburg, S.C., in the early ’70s. Excelling mainly in southern rock, the band also blends in some gospel, R&B, jazz, and country music. MTB’s sound is unique and catchy and has withstood the test of time. You may still hear “Heard It in a Love Song” and “Can’t You See” on the radio or in a blues bar on open mic night, but at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows you’ll hear it straight from the band, which is always better than a remake. 2) The Northside Music Festival is a free 3-day music, food, and arts festival occurring on several stages and locations on Pittsburgh’s Northside. Highlights include Timbeleza, André Costello, Black Ridge, Chet Vincent & The Music Industry, Cam Chambers, The Hawkeyes, Morgan Erina, Brad Yoder., Eagleburger Band, Bastard Bearded Irishmen, and The Vindys. Say Bye, Bye to Drinking Whiskey and Rye

The Whiskey Rebellion Festival chronicles an important part of American history. There are many activities and events including a history parade.

3) That’s what them good ol’ boys were singing before they realized “This’ll be the day that I die.” But they didn’t. Western Pennsylvania’s famed Whiskey Rebellion was laid to rest when the local resistance relinquished their arms in the face of Alexander Hamilton and his militia who were marching westward to enforce federal law. To commemorate the peace, if not the spirit that started it all, Washington, PA, will host a Whiskey Rebellion Festival on July 10 and 11. On Main Street where stands the former home of David Bradford, leader of the rebellion, visitors from far and wide will celebrate the history of 1794 with tastings, street food, street theater, and two main stage concerts featuring the Washington Symphony Orchestra on Friday and The Clarks on Saturday. 4) Texture Contemporary Ballet opens its 2026-2027 season with Divergence, a tripleheader of world premiere dance performances. The works focus on contrasts, inner truth, and societal hope. Texture details that, “Resident Choreographer Madeline’s Kendall Schreiber’s new work, titled Abandonment of Division in the Pursuit of Hope, explores “the growth of division within our society and the collective helplessness it can bring.” Deanna Stanton, a guest choreographer premieres Inner Voices, examines how we see ourselves in relation to reality. And from Texture’s Artistic Director Alan Obuzor, a new work, From Above. It’s described as, “Fuses traditional orchestra and modern electronic elements, moving through a striking range of sonic landscapes. Audiences are carried from an atmosphere of dark, unsettled tension into a hypnotic minimalist techno pulse that builds toward immense emotional crescendos—creating a world that feels both infinitely vast and intensely internal.” 7:30 p.m. Runs through Sunday.
