OK Go to Mr. Smalls; Balcony Big Band Making a Big Sound at Jergel’s (CPs Mon., 10/13/14)

1) Alt-rockers OK Go rose out of Chicago to create music that has achieved widespread popularity. Their name came from when lead singer Damian Kulash and bassist Tim Nordwind went to Interlochen Arts Camp when they were 11 and the teacher would say, “OK Go” for the class to start drawing. They are known for their pop hooks and fun videos, including the songs “The Writing’s on the Wall” “Needing/Getting,” and “This Too Shall Pass.” Special guest is Cutups & Keeb$. 8 p.m. Mr. Smalls Funhouse , 400 Lincoln Ave., Millvale.

2) The Balcony Big Band is hitting only high notes in a Monday night performance at Jergel’s Rhythm Grille. 7 p.m. No cover. 285 Northgate Dr., Warrendale.
