Reb Beach and Donnie Iris at Jergel’s Bike Night; “Grounded” Continues at City Theatre (CPs Tues., 4/15/14)
1) It’s Bike Night at Jergel’s Rhythm Grille; get those Harleys, Hondas, and BMWs rolling. Entertainment is by Reb Beach (of Winger and Whitesnake). Donnie Iris will be on hand as a guest bartender, and sportscaster Mark Madden and international swimsuit model Billie Joe Powers will be there as ear and eye candy. Also enjoy Miller Lite Pounders, a pig roast, food and drink specials, and grilling on the patio. 8 p.m. No cover. 285 Northgate Dr., Warrendale.
2) Gutsy fighter pilot Lauren English is grounded due to her pregnancy, and when she goes back to work, she’s flying drones in Afghanistan from the relative comfort of an air-conditioned trailer in Las Vegas. A drone pilot by day and mother by night, English and her attempt to navigate the two roles is the premise for an interesting, new one-woman show from City Theatre, called Grounded. Kelly McAndrew plays the pilot, and the play, written by George Brant, is directed by Jenn Thompson. 7 p.m. Runs through May 4. 1300 Bingham St., South Side.
3) Thunderbird Cafe’s Space Exchange series continues tonight with Book Exchange featuring Ben Opie, Jeff Grubbs, and David Throckmorton. The combo enjoys playing modern jazz, including works by Ornette Coleman, Anthony Braxton, and Thelonious Monk. 9 p.m. No cover. 4023 Butler St., Lawrenceville.
4) At Theater Square, singer Tim Stevens is the featured artist for this Tuesday’s jazz series at Backstage Bar. No cover. 5 – 9 p.m. 655 Penn Ave., Cultural District.
