Sabrina Carpenter in First of Two Nights at PPG Paints Arena; The Pete Hosts John Mulaney (Thurs., 10/23/25)
Thursday, October 23 and Friday, October 24
1) Sabrina Carpenter is short and sweet and that is also the name of her current tour (plus, “Even Sweeter!”). She had a very sweet start too, starring in the Disney Network program “Girl Meets World.” That led to a four-album run on Disney’s record label, Hollywood Records. Carpenter was raised in East Greenville, Pennsylvania, in Montgomery County, just outside of Philadelphia. She is the niece of the legendary actress Nancy Cartwright, the voice actor of Bart Simpson. Carpenter has three studio albums on Island Records: Emails I Can’t Send, Short n’ Sweet, and this year’s Man’s Best Friend. The latter stirred up a little controversy, with a cover photo of her on her knees on the floor getting her hair pulled by a person out of the photo frame. She humorously released an alternative album cover later that stated it was “Approved by God.” One of Carpenter’s best known songs is “Espresso.” She is playing a two-night run at PPG Paints Arena with special guests Olivia Dean and Amber Mark. 7 p.m. 1001 Fifth Ave., Uptown (R.H.)
2) Comedian, writer, actor John Mulaney sure has lived the life of the proverbial “Riley” in recent years. His stats are impressive: writer on “Saturday Night Live,” Hosted “SNL” six times, nominated for 21 Primetime Emmy Awards and winning four, performed on “Live at Gotham,” “Conan,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon,” “Late Night With Conan O’Brien,” and “Comedy Central Presents.” He’s also had his own sitcom on FOX, “Mulaney,” and five TV comedy specials. And also the Netflix children’s comedy special “John Mulaney and the Sack Lunch Bunch.” Catch Mulaney on his Mister Whatever Tour at the Petersen Events Center. 7:30 p.m. 3719 Terrace St., Oakland.
