1) The basketball City Game between Pitt and Duquesne may be on an extended hiatus, but there’s a new City Game (this year at least) in football. Both schools home opener will be played at Acrisure Stadium this afternoon. Pitt Panthers, led by Coach Narduzzi, are coming off a 7-6 season. Jerry Schmitt. The Duke’s head coach for the last 21 years, had a 9-4 record last year. Bragging rights for Pittsburgh are on the line. Showdown is at high noon. 100 Art Rooney Ave., North Shore.

2) The 2025 Monroeville Jazz Festival is happening today from noon to 8 p.m. at Tall Trees Amphitheater in Monroeville Community Park West. The headliner is the sensational jazz vocalist Etta Cox. Also scheduled to appear at the all-day, free community celebration are by Calvin Stemley & the Stemtecs, Brian Edwards Excursion, Tony Campbell, Dwayne Fulton, and youth jazz ensembles from Urban Impact and Center of Life. Additionally, festivalgoers can enjoy a wide variety of food trucks, vendors, artisan shopping and more. 2447 Tilbrook Rd., Monroeville.
