1) If there are laughs to be had from the class divisions in today’s society, this play is determined to find them. Elemeno Pea is a tale of two sisters from a working-class background, one of whom is barely scraping by, and one who has landed a deluxe job as the live-in personal assistant to the trophy wife of a tycoon. Feathers begin to fly when scraper sis visits lap-of-luxury sis in her employers’ lavish roost. City Theatre presents this comedy by Brooklyn-based Molly Smith Metzler as part of its mission to bring new and recent plays to Pittsburgh. 1 p.m. afternoon matinee, through Mar. 22. 1300 Bingham St., South Side.

2) Check out the Bluegrass Jam at the Park House, which bills itself as Pittsburgh’s oldest and friendliest tavern. The Shelf Life String Band hosts this weekly event where you can relax and enjoy the music or join the jam. Either way, Yuengling pints are only $2 from 9 p.m. to midnight. Jam starts at 9 p.m. 403 E. Ohio St., North Side.

3) Young Frankenstein The 1974 comedy homage to the James Whale/University Pictures monster franchise from the 1930’s, written by Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder. Brooks directs Wilder as Dr. Frederick Frankenstein (“Fronkensteen!”) who is lured back to the castle where he grandfather created the first monster. The supporting players are a veritable 1970’s Comedy Actor Hall of Fame: Marty Feldman, Madeline Kahn, Teri Garr, Cloris Leachman, Kenneth Mars and Peter Boyle. (Even Gene Hackman shows up in an uncredited turn as a blind villager). 5 p.m. Row House Cinema, 4115 Butler St., Lawrenceville.
