Lecrae Brings “Anomaly” to Pittsburgh; “Someday Is Now: The Art of Corita Kent” Ends Today at Warhol (CPs Sun., 4/19/15)

1) Anomaly is right. In 2014, Christian rapper Lecrae’s seventh studio album, Anomaly, simultaneously went to number one on the Christian charts, the gospel charts, and the Billboard 200—the first album ever to do so. The title track, meanwhile, name-drops OutKast, all while grappling with universal themes of acceptance and fitting in. Lecrae is also the co-founder and president of the independent record label Reach Records, and his sixth album, 2012’s Gravity, became the first hip hop album ever to win the Grammy Award for Best Gospel Album. Lecrae, from Atlanta by way of Houston, is sure to draw a diverse crowd for his show at Stage AE. Andy Mineo and DJ Promote open. Doors open 7 p.m. 400 North Shore Dr., North Shore.

2) This is not about the 1960s TV sitcom “The Flying Nun.” The real nun who really took off then was Sister Mary Corita Kent. While teaching art at a small Catholic college, she skyrocketed to fame through her own artwork, a major collection of which is now on display at The Andy Warhol Museum. The show, titled Someday Is Now: The Art of Corita Kent, is a natural one for the museum. Kent worked in (and pushed the boundaries of) a medium that Warhol also favored, silkscreen printing. The exhibit includes a big sampling of Kent’s early pieces along with many of the works she did after leaving the sisterhood in 1968 and becoming a full-time artist. 3) Our beloved Buccos take the diamond again today against the Milwaukee Brewers. It’s also Kids Day, with a Family Fun Zone outside the ball yard beforehand, and all fans 14 and under receiving a pair of Kids Andrew McCutchen Socks and a chance to run the bases after the game. First pitch is at 1:35 p.m. PNC Park, 115 Federal St., North Shore.

4) Furious 7 – The last film Paul Walker made before his untimely death and the final installment of the Fast and Furious franchise. In addition to Walker, the movie features Vin Diesel, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris, Dwayne (“The Rock”) Johnson and Kurt Russell. It’s about cars. Not enough? It’s about cars that go fast. It’s unlikely anybody’s going for any other reason. Check Fandango for local screens and times.
