Neko Case in Concert at Byham; Mr. Smalls Hosts Jello Biafra (Mon., 6/30/14)

1) Neko Case, singer/songwriter and member of the Canadian rock band The New Pornographers, performs at Byham Theater tonight. Case has received three Grammy Award nominations over her career and is touring in support of her latest album, the first in more than four years, The Worse Things Get, The Harder I Fight, The Harder I Fight, The More I Love You. 8 p.m. 101 6th St., Cultural District.

2) Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine are in concert tonight at Mr. Smalls Funhouse. Biafra was the former lead singer and songwriter for the punk rock band Dead Kennedys. A musician and spoken-word artist, Biafra is also politically active. He ran for the Green Party’s presidential nomination in 2000 and came in second to Ralph Nader. Special guests are Negative Approach, Submachine, and Zeitgeist. 8 p.m. 400 Lincoln Ave., Millvale.

3) Savoy Restaurant’s Savoy Jazz Mondays continues tonight with the Roger Humphries Trio featuring vocalist Judi Figel. 6 – 10 p.m. No cover. 2623 Penn Ave., Strip District.

4) Check out new and established talent at one of the city’s best open stage nights, Club Cafe’s AcoustiCafe. Grey’s Fool is the host of this supportive and friendly event. No cover. 7 p.m. 56 – 58 S. 12th St., South Side.
