1) Neil Young and Crazy Horse ; and Los Lobos are rolling into the University of Pittsburgh’s Petersen Events Center on “Alchemy 2012 Tour.” Young is touring in support of his new Americana (released earlier this year) and Psychedelic Pill (soon to be released) albums and an autobiography “Waging Heavy Peace.” Young is a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member and Grammy Award-winner, a very talented singer/songwriter/guitar player/producer/director. Young co-founded Buffalo Springfield and put the “Y” in CSNY (Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young). He has always remained relevant, no matter what the times we’re living in. Hits over the years including: Old Man; Heart of Gold; Rust Never Sleeps; Cinnamon Girl; Down By the River; Only Love Can Break Your Heart. Los Lobos (“The Wolves”) is a Grammy Award-winning Chicano rock band from East Los Angeles. They especially bring the heat on All My Bridges Burning and La Bamba songs. Also on the bill is Infantree. 7:30 p.m. 3719 Terrace St., Pitt’s campus, Oakland.
2) Shemekia Copeland is a noted blues singer, born in Harlem and raised in New Jersey. Copeland possesses a big, bold voice. She has opened for the Rolling Stones and played for President Obama, family and guests at the White House. She will be taking the stage at Jergel’s Rhythm Grille tonight. 8 p.m. 103 Slade Lane, Warrendale.
3) “Space Exchange,” a progressive, experimental jazz series, is happening tonight at the Thunderbird Cafe featuring Dave Throckmorton’s improvising group with James Johnson III (drums), Chris Parker (guitar), Paul Thompson (bass), and Ben Opie (effects). 9 p.m. No cover. 4023 Butler St., Lawrenceville.
4) PNC Park is offering free tours as part of Allegheny County RADical Days. Take a behind the scenes look at America’s best ballpark. Tours start on the hour from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Tour does not include locker rooms and some restrictions apply. This is a chance to visit PNC Park without leaving disappointed. 115 Federal Street, North Shore.
