1) The The Harlem Globetrotters, will visit the ‘Burg for a match against the Washington Generals. The basketball ambassadors of fun will captivate the crowd with trick shots, audience participation, joke plays, and goodwill. Current Globetrotters Herbert “Flight Time” Lang and Nathaniel “Big Easy” Lofton were a team of contestants on two seasons of the CBS TV show, The Amazing Race. The team also features several female players including T-Time Brawner, TNT Maddox, and Mighty Mitchell. 2 p.m. Consol Energy Center, 1001 Fifth Ave., Uptown.
2) Squirrel Hill’s Manor Theatre hosts JFILM 2013 (Jewish Film Festival) ending today. The festival features a diverse group of films including Hava Nagila (1 p.m.), which traces the roots and history of the classic Jewish song, and Numbered (7 p.m.), a story of Auschwitz concentration camp survivors who as prisoners had numbers tattooed on their skin. The film presents first-hand testimony to the terrors of the Holocaust and how being “stamped” impacted their lives. 1729 Murray Ave.
3) Pirates battle the Atlanta Braves again today, and every Sunday Pirates home game is Kids Day. There’s the Family Fun Zone on Federal Street from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., and then kids get a Pirate prize at the gate. After the game children are invited onto the field to run the bases. But be ready for a tough question from your kid. No, not “where do babies come from?” but “Why don’t the Pirates ever make the playoffs?” Kid’s 14 years and younger receive a Let’s Go Bucs Eco-Friendly Rally Towel. 1:35 p.m. PNC Park, North Shore.
4) Today it’s the Hank Jergel Memorial Concert at Jergel’s Rhythm Grille in Warrendale. It’s a day-long event, from 1 – 11 p.m. with 10 different musical acts including The Granati Brothers, Shari Richards Band, Jeff Jimerson, with Vanessa Campagna and Herb Schweitzer, No Bad Juju, Fathertime with special guests Ronnie Biedel of Wild Cherry & Sputzy. 103 Slade Lane.
