Cooper & Manson (This Is Not a Law Firm!); It’s a Horror Rock Double Header (CP’s Sun. 6/23/13)

1) Alice Cooper and Marilyn Manson team-up for a rock ‘n roll scarefest at Stage AE. Cooper rose to fame in the 1970’s with hits “No More Mr. Nice Guy,” “School’s Out,” and “Eighteen.” Alice Cooper shocked not only with horror imagery, but also with how hard and well the band rocked setting the stage for many heavy metal groups to follow. Marilyn Manson also delves in the heavy metal arts. His name is a derivative of two American pop culture icons– Marilyn Monroe and Charles Manson. Opening artist is Color Me Broken. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. 400 North Shore Dr., North Shore.

2) Singer/songwriter Langhorne Slim (born Sean Scolnick in Langhorne, PA)  performs this Sunday at Hartwood Acres amphitheater as part of the Allegheny County Summer Concert Series. Slim was once part of the Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players. 7:30 p.m.  200 Hartwood Acres, Indiana and Hampton Townships.

3) It’s opening weekend for the new Pennsylvania’s Civil War exhibit at the Senator John Heinz History Center. The attraction chronicles Pennsylvania’s role in the Civil War including the Battle of Gettysburg and Pittsburgh’s contribution as the “Arsenal of the Union.” View over 60 artifacts including A smooth bore Rodman Cannon that’s over 20 feet long and weighs 18,000 pounds; a tintype camera and portable printing press on loan from the Smithsonian Museum; tools, weapons and uniforms (some made by Pittsburgh factories); musical instruments; letters documents and more. Runs through January 4, 2014.  Open Daily 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.  1212 Smallman St., Strip District.

4) A great place for some Sunday sustenance is Crepes Parisiennes, where you’ll find both sweet and savory crepes, blintzes, coffee, French teas, espresso, cappuccino and fantastic hot chocolate. David, Kelly, Anthony, Owen and staff deliver friendly and attentive service at the Shadyside location which is a comfy basement bistro (732 Filbert St.). At their Oakland crepery you can enjoy your meal in a renovated townhouse (207 S. Craig St.). 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
