’80s Rock Queen Benatar at Palace Tonight (CPs Fri., 11/15/13)

1) Pat Benatar, hot looking and hard rocking 1980’s music icon, visits the area tonight with a concert at Greensburg’s Palace Theatre. Benatar, who’s maiden name is Andrzejewski, is a mezzo-soprano singer who once considered attending Julliard, but instead went to State University of New York at Sunny Brook to study health education. She left after a year to pursue her musical dreams. She started her trademark early-career spandex look accidentally, after attending a Halloween party as a character from Cat Woman of the Moon and then performing on stage at a regular gig at Catch a Rising Star. She received a standing ovation, thanks in part to the spandex,  and decided to keep it. Benatar scored  four Top 10 hits: “Hit Me With Your Best Shot,” “Invincible,” “Love Is a Battlefield,” and “We Belong.” She met her husband, guitarist/producer Neil Giraldo, in 1979 when he auditioned for the band. 2) Lucero is a roots punk pop band from Memphis that draws on the city’s rich musical heritage and transforms it into a unique, contemporary sound. You can experience them in the comfy confines of Mr. Smalls Funhouse. Titus Andronicus opens the concert. 8 p.m. 400 Lincoln Ave., Millvale.

3) Rivers Casino Wheelhouse Bar and Lounge hosts R & B funk dance band Platinum to get your feet moving and to let your mind relax into the weekend. 10 p.m. 777 Casino Dr., North Shore.

4) Good Fridays at the Warhol is a weekly party at the museum, featuring art exhibits, music, and cocktails in the high temple to Andy Warhol’s numerous talents. Half-price museum admission. 5 – 10 p.m. 117 Sandusky St., North Shore.

5)  Dancing Queen will put people on the dance floor at Jergel’s Rhythm Grille. The disco/funk band takes the stage at 9 p.m. 103 Slade Ln., Warrendale.

6) The Pens face off against  the Nashville Predators at center ice tonight. Puck drops at 7 p.m. Consol Center. 1001 Fifth Ave., Uptown.
