1) Get a jolt of culture at the Wood Street Galleries with its latest exhibit, Electrified. Sights and sounds combine for a sensory treat and an enhanced spatial awareness in these works by Edwin van der Heide and Alexandre Burton. An unofficial tribute to alternating electrical current guru Nikola Tesla, the display includes sparks, electric arcs, glass panes, and rhythmic sounds. This could be the perfect destination for a first date or those who’ve been together a long time; it could “spark” a conversation or “recharge” a relationship. Runs through June 22. 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. 601 Wood St., Cultural District.
2) Southern rock finds its way north at Jergel’s Rhythm Grille with the Outlaws. For the past 40 years, the band has been making the country/rock hybrid music, taking notes from bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Charlie Daniels, and the Allman Brothers. Surviving the test of time, the inevitable evolution of popular music, and bandmates’ deaths, the Outlaws are definitely alive, kicking, and, it would seem, stronger than ever. Some things really do get better with age. 8 p.m. 285 Northgate Dr., Warrendale.
3) Add some sweet twang to your night with Blackberry Smoke at Carnegie Library Music Hall. The country band formed in 2000 and gained popularity as a supporting act for Zac Brown Band’s 2011 tour. Tonight, they highlight the evening with their rich harmonies and sliding guitars to make it feel like an outdoor summer show. Special guest Highway 4 warms up the crowd. 7:30 p.m. 510 E. 10th Ave., Munhall.
4) Try something new with experimental rock band Dance Gavin Dance at Mr. Smalls. Incorporating many different genres into their distinctive sound—including metal, funk, and soul—the band is able to appeal to wide audiences. With songs like “Death of the Robot with Human Hair” and “Turn Off the Lights, I’m Watching Back to the Future Pt. II,” the band has no shortage of clever song titles and equally clever music composition. Although the band’s lineup changes frequently, DGD’s music remains fresh and high octane. With special guests Capture the Crown, Palisades, Bleach Blonde, and THE R4 PROJECT. 7:30 p.m. 400 Lincoln Ave., Millvale.
5) The Battlin’ Buccos take on the San Francisco Giants for a rare Wednesday afternoon game. Take a long lunch break and catch some action at PNC Park. 12:35 p.m. 115 Federal St., North Shore.
