1) Entertainment powerhouse Chelsea Handler (no known relation to Rick Handler, the author of this Cool Pick set, although he wishes so) brings her Uganda Be Kidding Me tour to Consol Energy Center tonight. Handler is the highly successful host of E! network’s “Chelsea Lately.” She will be wrapping up the show on E! at the end of the year and is considering multiple opportunities.
Handler is also an author who’s had four books on the New York Times Best Seller list, with three of those hitting the no. 1 spot. Her latest book has the same title as her comedy tour, Uganda Be Kidding Me, and is currently ranked no. 18 and rising on the Times list. Handler finds humor in her own foibles and the people and events around her, which makes her easily relatable.
Handler will be signing copies of the book at the University of Pittsburgh Book Center in Oakland (4000 Fifth Ave.) at 2 p.m. today. She has appeared on all major talk shows and has numerous acting credits including ” The Practice,” ” The Bernie Mac Show,” and her own show on NBC in 2012, “Are You There Chelsea?” Her Pittsburgh appearances are sure to be entertaining and could possibly be the biggest events ever in Pittsburgh (hey, she might still be a relative). 8 p.m. 1001 Fifth Ave., Uptown.
2) Phase IV is a rockin’ cover band from Cranberry, which is nice since they are playing Jergel’s Rhythm Grille tonight in the neighboring community of Warrendale. The Phase IV band is a highly social animal, playing well-known covers and prized back-catalog goodies from the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s, while making sure the audience is having a great time. The band is composed of the talented and charismatic Anthony Bertonlino on bass guitar, Dustin Bush handling lead vocals and guitar, Ron Roman on drums and backing vocals, and Mark Redilla on guitars and backing vocals. Hit songs in Phase IV’s repertoire include “Big Country,” “Hard to Handle,” “American Girl,” and “Hey Jealousy.” This is a fun band to get out and party with. 9 p.m. 285 Northgate Dr., Warrendale.
3) Title Town brings its soul and funk DJ dance party to brillobox tonight beginning at 9 p.m. 4104 Penn Ave., Bloomfield.
4) The Bucs take on the St. Louis Cardinals in a 7:05 p.m. game, with Zambelli fireworks night to follow. 115 Federal St., North Shore.
