RealTime Interventions’ ‘Khūrākī’: Real Life Stories of Afghan Refugees, Food, and Music (Tues, 2/15/22)

There’s been a lot of bad news recently involving Afghanistan. Now ReatTime Interventions brings some more joyful news about Afghan people and their culture in the form of Afghan refugees here in Pittsburgh. Their latest production, Khūrākī, is described as “we are bringing our culinary/theatrical celebration of Afghanistan, to CMU’s phenomenal month-long Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Celebration. CMU’s Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion, the Center for the Arts in Society (CAS), the School of Drama, and others have come together to host a full production of RealTime’s theatrical work designed to challenge Americans’ perceptions about Afghanistan through telling the personal stories of a group of Afghan female refugees, while supporting them in starting a collectively-owned food business in Pittsburgh: Zafaron Afghan Cuisine.” The performance will also include Afghan food and live music. It will also be livestreamed. 5:30 p.m. CMU, 5000 Forbes Ave., Oakland.
