The Clarks and Sun King Warriors Play Stage AE; WYEP Music Fest; Moe’s SW Tour at Acclamation Brewing (Sat., 6/25/22)

1) The Clarks continue to build on their foundation of playing solid working-class rock. The group gained a strong local following in the early ’90s gigging at clubs like Graffiti (remember Graffiti?), and has remained together and active long after nearly every other band on the scene during that era called it quits. After over 35 years, 11 albums, countless gigs and zero line-up changes, The Clarks have gone from being a regional favorite to a local institution. And the band members, who formed The Clarks at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, have never forgotten their home turf. Their most recent album is 2018’s, Madly in Love at the End of The World, released on the Clarkhouse Entertainment label. They have two new singles out, “Stay” and “Sugarcane.” Several possibly annual concerts for The Clarks are the Fayette County Fair (mentioned in their song “Cigarette”) and the Heinz Field Kickoff and Rib Festival or Stage AE. They are appearing with another popular Pittsburgh group, Jim Donovan & Sun King Warriors. Donovan is a founding member of the Pittsburgh super group, Rusted Root. The Sun King Warriors play a certain style of jam rock. They often play at Rivers Casino, Moondog’s, and various festivals. Their latest release is 2018’s We See Through It. Outdoor show. 2) WYEP’s Summer Music Festival is happening today at Schenley Plaza. Jukebox the Ghost headlines the show (9:15 p.m.). The lineup also features the Seratones (7:45 p.m.), Bill Deasy (6:15 p.m.), The Living Street (5 p.m.), Sierra Sellers (3:45 p.m.), and Ashley Marina (3 p.m.). 4100 Forbes Ave., Oakland. 

3) Moe’s Southwest Grill‘s local owner, Mike Geiger, appreciates the support his business had received during the hardest part of the pandemic from the communities they have locations in. As a way of repaying the public, Geiger, in collaboration with Easy Street Promotions, last year created the Moe’s Thank You Pittsburgh Brewery Tour with several stops at local breweries with free Moe’s food (tacos, chips, and queso) and live music. The Moe’s Southwest Brewery Tour was so popular that it is continuing this year. Today’s stop is at Acclamation Brewing (Verona) with Stephen Gallo performing. 5 to 8 p.m. Free. 555 Wildwood Ave.

4) The Squirrel Hill Night Market returns to Murray Avenue. Food trucks, vendors, crafters, kids activities, neighborhood restaurants, and more attractions will be on hand at this pop-up street festival on Murray Ave. 6-10 p.m. Free. Murray Avenue beginning at Forbes.
