‘The Sleeping Beauty’ Continues Onstage at Pittsburgh Ballet; Pour at the (South) Park (Sat., 5/20/23)

1) Sleeping Beauty is a classic tale that has been told in many different genres. The ballet, The Sleeping Beauty, is one of the best ever created. The tale is centered around a beautiful princess who’s been cursed into an eternal slumber until she is awakened by her one true love’s kiss. It premiered in St. Petersburg, Russia, in 1890. Now, in Pittsburgh, it will be performed on the Benedum Center stage. The PBT Orchestra will play Tchaikovsky’s immortal score. 2 and 7:30 p.m. 237 7th St., Cultural District. (R.H.)

2) The Allegheny County Parks Foundation is having a very exciting fundraiser at South Park Fairgrounds—its annual Pour at the Park. The event, which occurs today from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., will feature beer, spirit, and food tastings. Live music will be provided by Shelf Life String Band. Prize baskets valued at $250 to $500 each will be awarded by a ticket raffle. Children’s activities are by Mad Science. Come on out and support the Allegheny County Parks Foundation and its mission to improve, conserve and restore the nine Allegheny County Parks. This is a family friendly event. Sorry no dogs though. Event tickets required.
