William Shatner Live at ‘Wrath of Khan’ Screening; Tesla in Concert at Hollywood Casino; Maser Galleries 50th Anniversary Celebration (Fri., 9/27/24)

1) William Shatner, best known for starring as the courageous and wise, Captain James T. Kirk in the original “Star Trek” TV series and subsequent movies, is hosting a screening of the film Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. The showing will be at Carnegie of Homestead Music Hall. His appearance will be after the screening. There is also a VIP meet and greet with Shatner, who was also in a very famous episode of “The Twilight Zone,” titled Nightmare at 20,000 Feet about a terrifying airline flight. As the event billing states, “Set your phasers to stun!” 8 p.m. 510 E. 10th St., Munhall.

2) Tesla formed in Sacramento, California, in the 1980s and was originally called City Kidd. However, their manager didn’t like the name, plus there was another band with that name, so they found inspiration from inventor and electrical engineer Nikola Tesla. The band really hit its stride in the early ’90s with a tight group, the rich vocals of Jeff Keith, and the ability to craft some popular power ballads. Breaking up in 1996 and reuniting in 2000, the band remains popular and continues to create new works.  The band’s latest album is 2019’s Shock.  Tesla’s best known songs include “Love Song,” “What You Give,” and “Signs.” The band has sold over 25 million albums. 8 p.m. Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, 210 Racetrack Rd., Washington. (R.H.)
