1) Comedian/actress Amy Schumer is currently one of the hottest talents in Hollywood. Starring in the recent film Trainwreck, which did well at the box office, she’s now a calendar girl for Pirelli’s 2016 calendar shot by noted photographer Annie Leibovitz. “Amy Schumer: Live From the Apollo” and the Comedy Central’s Roast of Charlie Sheen are a few of her more interesting credits. She has won numerous awards for her comedy show “Inside Amy Schumer” which has been airing on Comedy Central since its debut in 2013. This is an opportunity to see her perform her standup act at the Consol Energy Center. 7 p.m. 1001 Fifth Ave., Uptown.
2) Among many other things, the Christmas season brings us TV specials, typically including one with Charlie Brown of the Peanuts comic strip. And the MCG Jazz series is kicking off its holiday programming with a musical tribute to Charlie Brown. Along with “Linus and Lucy” (above), the de facto theme song for the Peanuts TV shows, jazz pianist and composer David Benoit will play a host of other tunes like the “Charlie Brown Christmas Dance” and many more. Benoit is a prolific musician with 36 albums to his credit. On the Peanuts front he has become heir to the late Vince Guaraldi, who composed and recorded the music for the original Charlie Brown specials from 1965-1976. Benoit also played on the soundtrack for the Peanuts movie released last month. He will be accompanied at MCG Jazz by vocalist Jane Monheit, who is featured on his latest album 2 In Love. The concerts are sold out so you’ll have to rely on friends with tickets or aftermarket sales. Two shows, 7 and 9:30 p.m. Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild, 1815 Metropolitan St., Manchester. (MV)
3) Pitt and Duquesne square off again in the annual City Game at the neutral Consol Energy Center site. Although Pitt will be heavily favored anything can happen in this cross town rivalry match. Tip off is at 7 p.m. 1001 Fifth Ave., Uptown.
