1) Everybody needs a laugh, and up-and-coming comedian Bo Burnham is here to help. He gained an audience on YouTube, and now Burnham has been voted #1 overall on Comedy Central’s “Stand-up Showdown.” His act features stand-up comedy, music, and theater, with politically incorrect humor that will have you begging for more. Only 23 years old, the comedian has the potential for a bright, hilarious future. Carnegie Library Music Hall. 510 E. 10th Ave., Munhall.
2) Get a more cultured sound at Mr. Smalls Funhouse with the worldly sounds of Beats Antique. The trio, comprised of David Satori, Zoe Jakes, and Tommy “Sidecar” Cappel, combines the sounds of Middle Eastern belly dance, hip hop, Afro-beat, and techno. The result is a whimsical and unique infusion of new beats inspired by old styles, as demonstrated in a song like “Revival.” Celebrating their new album, A Thousand Faces, Beats Antique includes the marriage of dubstep beats with live instruments for an amazing experimental experience. With special guests ill-esha and SORNE. 8 p.m. 400 Lincoln Ave., Millvale.
3) Skynyrd meets Papa Roach through the music of Nashville Pussy at the Altar Bar. Not quite country, not quite rock, the band falls into the Southern Metal category for a night of hard beats and epic guitar riffs. Following the creed of “sex, drugs, and rock n roll,” the band shows that common theme through albums like Let Them Eat Pussy (1998), High As Hell (2000), and Say Something Nasty (2002). Equally colorful songs include “Hate and Whiskey” and “Go to Hell.” For an evening of raw, uncensored, let-your-hair-down entertainment, you won’t want to miss this. 7 p.m. 1620 Penn Ave., Strip District.
4) Don’t just see the movie. For a new, interactive take on The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Brisbane Management Group gives us The Rocky Horror Show. The entirely local cast brings you a new twist on the cult classic, but bring your walking shoes, because you won’t be sitting for long. As an audience member, you become part of the cast (if you so choose) as you follow Brad and Janet through their incredible journey with Dr. Frank-N-Furter to secret locations throughout Munhall, complete with set designs and art installations. You don’t find out these locations until you get your ticket, so what are you waiting for? For an extra boost of fun, try a VIP ticket and get a pre-show dance lesson for “The Time Warp” so you can join in! 8 p.m. 416 8th Ave., Munhall.
