Cool Picks brings you the best in Pittsburgh entertainment every day!
1) A little way down the Monongahela river in Morgantown, West Virginia is one of three locations (other locations are Davis, WV and Deep Creek, MD) of Mountain State Brewing Company Restaurant and Bar. Mountain State Brewing beers are made with waters from a stream at one of the highest points in the mountain watershed. This gives the brews an extra clean, extra fresh base to build on. Featured are: Cold Trail Ale, Almost Heaven Amber Ale, Seneca Indian Pale Ale, Miner’s Daughter Oatmeal Stout. Other fun refreshments include sangria, their own root beer, Hillbilly Punch (yes it has alcohol) and a full bar. Mountain State Brewing also offers wood fired, brick-oven flatbread pizzas, sandwiches, salads and appetizers. The brewery, along with other restaurants, offices, hotels and the Caperton Trail are located along the Waterfront’s Wharf District, a smaller version of a Station Square-type development that runs along the Monongahela river in Morgantown. Stop in for a nice slice of West Virginia hospitality. 54 Clay St., Morgantown, WV.
2) Pittsburgh Cultural Trust BNY Mellon JazzLive series continues with bassist Tony DePaolis. JazzLive has moved back inside for fall and winter to the Backstage Bar at Theater Square. 5 p.m. 655 Penn Ave.
3) Mr. Smalls Funhouse presents Epic Kings & Idols Tour with Swedish death/doom-metal band Katatonia and metal rocker Devin Townsend Project. Special guests are Paradise Lost and Stolen Babies. 7 p.m. 400 Lincoln Ave., Millvale.
4) Metric, an indie rock/new wave band from Canada, rolls into town to play an indoor show at Stage AE. Opening is Half Moon Run. Doors open 7 p.m., North Shore.
