Barenaked Ladies At CL Music Hall; Comedian Ralphie May Plays Improv (CPs Mon. 10/21/13)

1) Canadian alt-rockers Barenaked Ladies rose to success on the songs “If I Had a Million Dollars,” “One Week,” and “Brian Wilson,” and by performing the theme song for the hit CBS TV show “The Big Bang Theory.”  BnL is touring in support of their new album Grinning Streak. Our friends from the great white north take the Carnegie Library Music Hall stage tonight at 7:30 p.m. Opening act is Whitehorse. 510 E. 10th St., Munhall.

2) Pittsburgh Improv hosts comedian Ralphie May tonight and tomorrow night. May is a highly successful comedian who was voted one of Variety’s “10 Comics to Watch,” and he just released his fourth Comedy Central special, “Too Big to Ignore.” As a contestant on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing,” he raised his profile with the show’s large nationwide audience. Exploring touchy subjects and “telling it like it is” are all hallmarks of a Ralphie May show. 8 p.m. 166 E. Bridge St., The Waterfront, Homestead.

3) A New Jersey band is in concert tonight; No, not that one. It’s the long lasting, heavy metal Danzig, formed in Lodi, N.J., in 1987 and led by Glen Danzig. The slightly satanic doom metal band plays Stage AE tonight in support of their 25th anniversary. They’re supported on the bill by Butcher Babies, Texas Hippie Coalition, and A Pale Horse Named Death. Danzig w/Doyle will also be performing. Doors open at 6 p.m. 400 North Shore Dr., North Shore.

4) The Pens face off against the Colorado Avalanche at the Consol Energy Center tonight at 7:30 p.m. 1001 Fifth Ave., Uptown.
