The Balcony Big Band At Jergel’s (CP’s Mon. 6/24/13)

1) The Balcony Big Band is hitting only high notes in a Monday night performance at Jergel’s Rhythm Grille. 8 p.m. No cover. 103 Slade Ln., Warrendale.

2) Savoy Restaurant’s Savoy Jazz Mondays continues tonight with host band Roger Humphries Trio and jazz trumpeter Benny Benack III and guests,. 5 – 9 p.m. No cover. 2623 Penn Ave., Strip District.

3) Check out new and established talent at one of the towns’ best open stage nights, Club Cafe’s AcoustiCafe. The supportive and friendly event is hosted by Clinton Clegg. No cover. 7 p.m. 56-58 S. 12th St., South Side.

4)  With the start of the summer swim suit season, and for general health, it may be another good day to enjoy tasty vegan and vegetarian dishes. Some notable vegetarian restaurants include: Quiet Storm: Vegetarian + Vegan Cafe (5430 Penn Ave., Friendship) and East End Food Co-op Cafe (7516 Meade St., North Point Breeze). Also, most Asian and Indian restaurants offer a nice assortment of vegetarian and vegan dishes.
