Club Café Hosts Rhett Miller; Good Brother Earl Plays Jergel’s (CPs Thurs., 1/16/14)

1) Old 97’s lead vocalist and main songwriter Rhett Miller is a successful solo artist in his own right. Miller has released seven albums, including The Grand Theatre Volume One in 2010 and  The Grand Theatre Volume 2 the following year. He’s even appeared in an episode of  the TV show “30 Rock.” Special guest is  Trapper Schoepp. 8 p.m. Club Café, 56-58 S. 12th St., South Side.

2) Local rockers Good Brother Earl are warding off the winter chill with sets at Jergel’s Rhythm Grille tonight. They are currently working on a new album and will have a release date soon. 285 Northgate Dr., Warrendale.

Specials daily at 5 p.m. The East Liberty hot spot is open Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. – 10 p.m.; Friday – Saturday, 11 a.m. – 1 a.m.;  and Sunday, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. (for a hearty chicken and waffles brunch) and 3 – 9 p.m. (for regular service).  Their second-floor counterpart—Harvard and Highland—is open for cocktails until 1 a.m. weekdays, 2 a.m. Friday and  Saturday, and 11 p.m. Sunday.
