1) America’s largest inland regatta, the 2013 EQT Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta, continues today along the banks of, and on, the Allegheny River along Point State Park. Attractions include one of the nations biggest boat races, the Powerboat Superleague North American Championships; The Marvelous Mutts, a talented bunch of dogs who perform free-flying feats including leaps into a 14,000-gallon pool of water; the Anything that Floats Race; a burger-eating contest;, fireworks; bands; food; Beach Burg; amazing sand sculptures; a Kid’s Zone; and more. Today’s highlights include the F-3 Powerboat North American Championships. Time trials start at 2 p.m. followed by the qualifiers at 5:30 p.m. and championship race at 7 p.m.
Musical performers are Kenny Blake (jazz saxophonist, 7 p.m., Point State Park stage); Beatlemania Magic (Beatle tribute, 7 p.m., Rivers Casino Amphitheater), and Jefferson Starship (classic rock, 8 p.m., Point State Park). Wonder-Falls of Light Fireworks Show— shot from atop the Wyndham Grand Hotel will provide a vibrant spectacle of close-up and cascading-style pyrotechnics (10 p.m.). Today’s hours are noon until approximately 10:30 p.m. Runs through July 4. Downtown and North Shore.
2) The Smiling Moose is promoting tonight’s event as “the party of the decade,” and they’re right, because it’s their 10-year anniversary. Happy Anniversary Smiling Moose! To get the party jumping they’ve retained the services of one of Pittsburgh’s top rock bands, Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers. Also appearing is German Shepherd. Special guests and drink specials will add to the festivities. 9 p.m. 1306 E. Carson St., South Side.
3) Hot jazz tonight with Rick Matt. His music will add another layer of deliciousness to the New Orleans cuisine at NOLA on the square in an 8 p.m. show. No cover. 24 Market Square, Downtown.
4) Don’t be a “hayseed.” Get on over to Peter’s Pub for country music night with DJ Dave. Check out their great specials: $5.50 fish bowls, $7.50 Smirnoff fish bowls and $2 Yuengling bottles (10 p.m. – midnight); $5.50 Bud Lt. pitchers (all day, everyday); and if you need some protein in the picture, $5 sandwiches ( 5 – 10 p.m.). 116 Oakland Ave., Oakland.
