‘Ghosted: Tales From Carson Street’ at City Theatre (Wed., 10/30/24)

Are you ready for Halloween? It’s one of our biggest holidays and arguably the most inclusive. People from just about all backgrounds can relate to dressing in costumes and going to parties. No elaborate turkey dinners or Valentine sweethearts are required. Perhaps you’ve got your plans made. But wait: When was the last time you heard real, live ghost stories, told by expert storytellers? Now is your chance. City Theatre welcomes the season with a spooky, sometimes comical, and also musical extravaganza called Ghosted: Tales from Carson Street. It’s not a play—plays are different from stories told by an individual—and for this occasion the company has two tellers. “Artivist” (artist-activist) Farooq Al-Said teams with actor Shannon Williams (recently seen in The Public’s Dial M for Murder) to spin the yarns. Mood-setting musicians include Sarah Siplak and Shane McLaughlin, with Brian Siewiorek as DJ/MC. The event unfolds throughout special indoor stagings in the City Theatre campus, and drinks & treats are included with the admission fee. Be there or be scarily square. 7 p.m. Ghosted: Tales from Carson Street is at 1300 Bingham St., South Side, through November 2. (M.V.)
